Document Production Technology

In the production of documents there are various technical processes involved in it. In every process of document production there are various processes associated. In case of production of newspaper, magazine, books, research documents and manuscripts the entire processes are carried out with the help of various technological processes. That is why the document production technology is given special importance and this is applied in US, UK, countries of Western World, America, Europe and in Asian countries like India, China, Japan and various other countries. There are different processes associated with production technology. These are Physical Preservation, Storage, Cultural Preservation, Digital Content Management, Digital Physical Interaction Management, Destruction, Security and Transportation. In case of Physical Preservation we find that the documents are preserved in both physical and digital physical forms. This type of document management clearly focuses on issues like the ageing of paper and backdated ness of magnetic media. In case of Storage Preservation it consists management of scarce resources like shelf space and disk space. Also the allied technologies like optimum space utilization are also involved. The glaring example of this is that in US the University of Nevada and Michigan most of the time utilize the complicated space saving technologies like robotic retrieval systems of stacks and movement of bookshelves.

In case of Cultural Preservation, it is totally allotted to the librarians for selecting, arranging and storing the documents in safe custody. In case of preservation of any historical anecdotes around the globe this type of production management is implied. As per the roles in documents production technology is concerned, we find the roles of various persons. They are author, reviewer, editor, publisher, printer distributor, retailer and librarian.

The role of the author is to select the contents which are to be published for final communication to the public. An author also does the management and recording of the content. This type of preservation and recording of documents is called manuscript. The role of the reviewer is to go through the subject matter thoroughly and to do rationalistic evaluation of the subject for the benefit of the audience. The reviews are published in different print Medias and periodicals for the awareness of the targeted readers. The role of the editor is to present content in such a manner that is clearly decipherable to the reader. The editor also checks the spelling, grammar and punctuation in order to present a perfect document.

After the above formalities there are also other routine matters involved. These are designing of the documents and type setting of it. Especially in case of research documents, art related books the designing aspect and overall presentation are given top priority.
